Homemade New York Everything Bagels

I found this bagel recipe from Wanderlusting K on Pinterest during the pandemic lock downs and it's a gem! She is from New York and travels the world. This is the recipe she came up with while living over seas ( I think she was in the Netherlands at the time) and couldn't find bagels like back in New York. They are FANTASTIC!

I've made these multiple times and absolutely love this recipe! I've made the Everything Bagels, ( which are my total fave!) I've also made parmesan and onion as well! It's pretty easy to follow, just takes a little practice with shaping the bagels. I use the method she does where she pinches them in the center to make the hole . I found that much easier than the traditional way. I always make 10 bagels.

Now, in the recipe, she uses bread flour. I also use that, but have used regular flour in the past and they both come out great! The bread flour just makes for a slightly lighter bagel. They both are just delicious whichever you choose.

I also bought the Everything seasoning instead of making the seasoning. Don't forget to use the Onion powder though! I did add that to the seasoning.

When making these , after you've boiled them , seasoned them and when it's time to bake them, the directions for baking say 17 minutes total. I wanted them slightly darker on the outside so I went 5 minutes longer making sure to turn the bagels over 2 more times. Also, PLEASE make sure you bake them on parchment paper on your baking sheet! DO NOT spray the sheet with oil or they will stick and burn to the pan! I saw posts from other who had done that. What a disappointment and waste of time and effort!

Cream Cheese smear on Bagels is the best!! I like to take the little bits of seasoning that fall off and sprinkle them right back on top! Waste nothing... Enjoy!
